Actors Headshots Sydney with Karina Russell

Karina Russell actually contacted me regarding getting her new actor headshots after she was so impressed with the headshots I did for her Mum, Bronwyn.

I shoot regularly in both Sydney and on the Central Coast, and for this particular shoot we met up in Umina Beach, not far from Gosford.

Karina is starring in a new production and her director wanted something a little more light-hearted and natural than her previous portraits, and this is very much my style. I aim to produce portraits that are natural and realistic of you, because at the end of the day, a casting director wants to see what they are going to get and put their own ideas forward, rather than having an particular look pushed on them.

If you are interested in getting some new headshots and you want a clean, fresh look, give me a call or click the button...

Actors Headshots Central Coast with Bronwyn Russell

Bronwyn Russell

Bronwyn Russell is the director of Umina based Dance and Performing Arts studio, Dancin' Mates.

After receiving her Advanced Diploma at the Australian Ballet School, Bronwyn performed professionally both on stage and on screen; including with the Australian Ballet Company, Opera Australia, The Phantom of the Opera and Vienna Festival Ballet. Her successful career took her around the world including London, New York, Vienna, as well as in Australia.

She and her family were then struck by the beauty and lifestyle of the NSW Central Coast, and together they set up their dance school in Umina Beach.

Actors Headshots

Having been persuaded by her family, all of whom are working actors or dancers, to get back into performance roles, she decided it was time to look for an agent again. At this point Bronwyn contacted me about some new actors headshots.

When I met Bronwyn she was quick to tell me that she wanted her portraits to be natural and not try to make her something she is not. She thought that she would be going for the 'Mum' type roles and as such the head shots should be appropriate to this.

Of course this was not a problem. We worked our way round a few different locations on a cold, windy day. I was able to harness a little of that wind power to add a little oomph to her hair on occasion. I also used the natural light to keep the shots looking real.

Since then, Bronwyn's daughter Karina has also enlisted me for her headshots, which you can see here.

I think the images look great and I think Bronwyn should get plenty of acting work!

Actors Headshots Sydney with Tamaryn Hurly

Here is my most recent Actors Headshots photo shoot in Sydney, with Cruise Performer Tamaryn Hurly.

Tamaryn's brief was an interesting one. She needed the obvious headshots for her performance work, and came to me for my fresh and modern style. However, she also needed images that the Cruise Ship she will be singing on can use to promote her show.

We started out with the basics to warm up and build her confidence around the alleyways of Surry Hills in Sydney, and then started to vamp it up a little with her flowing and formal dresses and working those fashion poses!

Tamaryn loved the resulting pictures, as do I. She told me that she had such a hard task narrowing her selection down as there were so many images she loved. I'm happy to say I agree.

Best of luck with your new show Tam!

Chris

Actors Headshots Central Coast: Sophia Stratton

Here is my actors headshots shoot with Actress Sophia Stratton. We shot them in Woy Woy on the NSW Central Coast.

When I lived in the UK, I used to do a lot of Actor’s and Corporate Headshots and Portraits. This actually formed probably the backbone of my business. However, when I moved to Australia back in 2009 and started to build my photography business from the ground up again, it for some reason didn’t occur to me to start with the head shots side of things. I’m not entirely sure why.

I plan to change all that now though, and want to bring a fresh, modern LA style to the Sydney and Central Coast Corporate and Performer Portrait.

When it comes to Actors, Sydney is just a stone’s throw away from where I live on the Central Coast, along with the fabulous theatre that we have on the coast. I like to keep abreast of fashions and trends within the industry and for that LA is the place to look. What we are seeing currently is a movement away from the studio look and onto the streets for a more naturally lit, edgy look. We have already sourced and experimented with a few locations close to public transport links for ease of getting to us, and we are all set to go.

Musician Promo Photography: Ashley Knight

I was recently asked to do a photo shoot to promote Central Coast musician Ashley Knight. We kept it local and did all the photos in a selection of locations around Gosford. It's amazing what you can find with a bit of effort!

The year starts with a BANG!

Last night there was a crazy lightning show going on. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get out in the best of it as I was working but I didn't manage to grab the tail end and this shot... I'm happy! Hello 2015.

Lightning across Booker Bay, Central Coast, NSW. 1st January 2015.

2014: A Year in Review

It has been a great year for me, with many changes in both my work and personal life. We moved house and became 'coasties', I have seen the quality of my work and style improve greatly and I finally got my new website up and out there.

As we approach the end of 2014 and the start of 2015, I am hoping for an even bigger year to come. I thought it would be nice to pick out a few favourite images from the year the has been.

A big thanks to everyone that has helped me out, worked with me and been a part of it. I look forward to working with you again next year and to the new people I will get to meet along the way.

See you next year!

Its on fire at Feathertop

A couple of months ago I spent 2 weeks in Victoria with my family. On a day trip to the beautiful alpine country town of Bright we passed the Feathertop Winery. The winery caught all of our attention for some reason, it just had something intriguing about it. On our return trip we were dragged in, out of intrigue to have a look.

As it turned out they had a launch event on, a celebration of their innovative winery garden, with a Twilight Bonfire to boot. It was a beautiful location, with views down the valley, across the sprawling vineyards, and a hacienda canopy draped in beautiful vines.

We were only really there long enough to have a coffee, try to work out what was going on and watch a bit of the bonfire but I got a few shots of this unique spot. I'll certainly have to venture back some time and highly recommend it.

Welcome....

Welcome one and all to my new website.

For those of you who don't know me, here's a little introduction....

  • I am originally from the UK, which makes me officially a Pom in my new homeland.
  • I moved to Australia in 2009 and met a whirlwind of a girl and never looked back.
  • I love to travel and genuinely believe it is the best education you can get.
  • Photography is without a doubt my greatest passion in life and what drives me to look at the world in new ways.
  • I really want to learn to surf. I used to have surf calendars and posters on my wall as a kid in rural England. Well we have just moved close to the beach, so bring on summer!
  • I love a good coffee but I'm a tea drinker at heart.
  • My favourite trip ever was probably watching the sun rise over the Salar de Uyuni in Bolivia. Wow, just wow!

Don't hesitate to get in touch if you like my work....
