Portrait of Hugh Stewart - Photographer

At the end of 2025, I visited Hugh Stewart’s Portrait Studio in Woollharra, Sydney to have my own portrait made by him. He was warm and friendly and I really enjoyed my time chatting with him.

For many years I have admired his work, having photographed many of the biggest names in popular culture and made honest portraits of them. We had a great chat about photography and cameras, as I had taken my Mamiya 7II with me, a medium-format camera that is becoming very sort after and which he used to own too.

At the end of our half-hour portrait session, Hugh was kind enough to let me make a quick portrait of him. I had just 45 seconds in which to do this before his next session, and I have to say, I’m very happy with what I managed to achieve in that time!!
